| "Living for God's Glory: From This Day On" | Avril Lovegrove | | | Reading Haggai 2:10-23 incorporated into a talk by Avril Lovegrove given during the St.Georges SIX service on the 1st December 2019.
Being in the world risks contamination if we go to the wrong places and sin can become a normal unholy way of life.
So we have to work at becoming holy by spending time with Jesus, soaking in His presence through prayer, scripture and worship so that our actions reflect God's character. Then we can be intentional about our faith.
| | | | Living for God's glory - From this day on | Tim Long | | | Tim summarises the Book of Haggai to give context to the - rather difficult - final section. Tim notes that the book has sudden changes of mood from somber to offers of blessing possibly reflecting the chaotic times that Haggai lived in. For Haggai, stability was to be found in re-building the temple and a return to a pure faith. Tim says that such promises of blessing are the hope that is always there for the Jews. It is similar to the Advent hope we have today for the second coming of Jesus. | |
| | "Living for God's glory - How does it look?" | Sean Skinner | | | Reading Haggai ch2 v1-9 incorporated in a talk re-recorded by Sean Skinner, originally given at the St Georges SIX service on the 24th November 2019.
We try to live life how God calls us to, but sometimes our lives feel like nothing and our anxiety keeps us back. Then we need to be strong and work it out - for God is with us and will fill us with His Glory and give us peace.

| | | | Living for God's glory - How does it look? | Leah Perona-Wright | | | Leah reads the Haggai text and introduces the idea of an eye test and adjusting the lenses to see things differently. Haggai calls on his community to see the re-building of the Temple as way of once more focusing on God and His desires for them, rather than focusing on themselves. It's the way to more clearly see God's glory and His purposes. The same is true for us to see God aright by putting in the right lenses - those that have revealed His love for us now and in the past - and move forward. | St George's Ashtead 9.15 Service | Listen

The church is who we are, part of God's family, doing His mission..
God wants us to feel loved, so He calls us into intimate relationship with Him where our priorities will be: God - family - ministry. Our challenge is to build a routine in our lives - schedule our prayer, listening and bible study times or lest we forget.
